Why I’m Building Online Income After 50
I didn’t grow up dreaming of an online business.
I grew up learning how to work. The kind of work that starts early, ends late, and wears you out in the best kind of way. I’ve managed warehouses, flipped burgers, handed out rental car keys, and raised three incredible kids with Tracy. I’ve made a good life. Not flashy. But honest.
And here I am, 52 years old, still showing up every day for the branch I run. I’m not bitter about that job, it’s fed my family and taught me plenty. But I’d be lying if I said I didn’t feel the tug for something else.
Because here’s what they don’t tell you about working 30+ years for someone else:
You start to wonder what happens when you stop showing up.
You start to notice that your time is worth more than your paycheck.
And eventually, you look at your retirement numbers and think, “Huh… that might not be enough.”
That’s where this journey started for me.
Not out of desperation, but out of clarity.
I’m not building this business to leave something behind. I’m building it so I can take something with me when I walk away from the 9-to-5. Something that’s mine. Something that grows. Something that lets me keep showing up in life, with purpose, with options, and maybe a little more fishing.
I want my family to see what’s possible. I want other late starters to know they’re not too late.
And I want to prove to myself that it’s never the wrong time to bet on yourself.
This is why I’m building income after 50.
Not just for retirement, but for the second half of life.
One that’s a little lighter, a little freer, and a whole lot more mine.
